Job Title: NPI Mechanical/Electronic Assembler – Medical Devices

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling medical devices in the New Product Introduction (NPI) area, where products are built in the earliest stage of production before they move into full-scale manufacturing. You will assemble diagnostic machines, blood analyzers, heart monitors, and related equipment by following detailed digital work instructions and Travelers. The position combines mechanical and electronic assembly, use of hand and power tools, and precise documentation in a clean, well-organized medical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble medical devices and components in the NPI (New Product Introduction) area, working on products in their first stage of production before mass manufacturing.

  • Follow detailed digital work instructions and Travelers on the computer to perform mechanical and electronic assembly tasks accurately and consistently.

  • Build and assemble diagnostic machines, blood analyzers, heart monitors, and related medical instruments according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Use hand tools, including torque wrenches, and power tools to perform precise mechanical assembly operations.

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other technical documentation to complete assembly tasks.

  • Complete all required in-process documentation accurately, including medical documentation and production records, ensuring full traceability and compliance.

  • Enter data into computer systems, maintaining accurate records of work performed and following digital workflows.

  • Inspect work carefully, maintaining a high level of attention to detail to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.

  • Collaborate with team members and trainers, following the structured training program and using provided training materials and binders.

  • Incorporate real-time feedback from leadership and trainers to continuously improve quality, speed, and adherence to procedures.

  • Support production demands by being available to work overtime before the regular shift and occasional weekend hours when needed, especially during peak periods.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment; medical manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

  • Experience performing mechanical assembly tasks in a production or similar setting.

  • Experience working with hand tools, with torque wrench experience considered a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with medical documentation or other regulated documentation processes.

  • At least 1 year of experience working with computers, including comfort with digital work instructions and data entry.

  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, SOPs, and written work instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Willingness and ability to work overtime before the regular shift and to support some weekend work when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new tools, processes, and equipment quickly, even without prior manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with electronic assembly or medical assembly in a regulated environment.

  • Comfort working with Travelers and other production documentation tools.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

  • Openness to structured, binder-based training and ongoing performance feedback.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, comfortable, and well-lit medical manufacturing facility that builds medical instruments in a regulated environment, though it is not a clean room. You will work extensively with computers, digital work instructions, and Travelers, as well as hand tools, torque wrenches, and power tools for mechanical and electronic assembly. Standard hours are on the first shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of overtime before the shift starting as early as 5:00 a.m. and some Saturday work during busier periods in the third and fourth quarters. The workplace maintains a laid-back atmosphere with a casual dress code of jeans and a collared shirt, and offers renovated break rooms with comfortable seating and recreational options such as shuffleboard, darts, foosball, and access to coffee, snacks, and canteen vending.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
