Job Description

Clinical Research Assistant The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a full‑time, contractual Clinical Research Assistant for the Department of Anesthesiology. Primary Duties Assist social scientists in laboratory, survey, and other social science research. May help prepare findings for publication and assist in laboratory analysis, quality control, or data management. Accomplish responsibilities by applying specialized and theoretical knowledge, principles, and concepts of a professional discipline normally acquired through advanced education or specialized training. Resolve issues and significant matters on behalf of management by utilizing independent judgment, discretion, creativity, and analytical thinking. Contribute to development and evaluation of goals and objectives. Create solutions to ensure legal and policy compliance. May supervise, mentor, or coordinate work of others; may independently manage or administer programs, processes, projects, or resources. Apply entry‑level knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills. Decision making occurs within defined parameters. Supervisor defines assignments, expectations, and deadlines. Supervisor may review work for quality. Demonstrates initiative and discretion to resolve routine and non‑routine matters. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field of study related to clinical research. Experience: Prior clinical research experience preferred; a combination of directly related experience and education may also be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of position requirements, applicable regulations, and laws; skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems; effective verbal and written communication; ability to support mission and strategic vision; instructional, training, and team‑building skills; consultation and change management skills; and adherence to UMB Core Values. Hiring Range $48,000 to $53,000, commensurate with education and experience.
