Residential Construction Superintendent (Contract)

WoodRock Homes is a luxury residential development company focused on quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful execution over volume. We are seeking an experienced Residential Construction Superintendent to lead on-site construction operations and take full ownership of jobsite execution from start to finish. You will be responsible for day-to-day coordination of all on-site construction activities, maintaining schedules, and ensuring each home is delivered to a high standard of quality. This is a key field leadership role within a small team and reports directly to the Construction Manager.

This is a fully remote, field-based role with no central office. Candidates must be based in or around the Houston area and are expected to be regularly present on WoodRock Homes job sites which are located in and around central Houston.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all phases of residential construction from site preparation through final completion, including punch lists and closeout
  • Manage and maintain project schedules, ensuring effective trade sequencing and on-time delivery
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors, including scope walkthroughs and inspection scheduling
  • Enforce quality control standards and ensure work aligns with plans, specifications, and expectations for high-end homes
  • Proactively identify, resolve, or escalate issues impacting schedule, budget, or quality
  • Manage material deliveries and site logistics
  • Provide regular updates to the Construction Manager on progress, risks, and timelines
  • Solicit and review subcontractor bids and help identify and vet future trade partners
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Maintain site documentation and photos
  • Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe at all times

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a residential superintendent
  • Experience in custom home building strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing, and local building codes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple trades and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and quality
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
