Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. The ideal candidate is safety focused, detail oriented, and capable of working independently while delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
Essential Responsibilities
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, equipment, fixtures, and controls
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, construction drawings, and project specifications
• Install conduit, raceways, cable trays, electrical panels, transformers, breakers, switches, outlets, lighting systems, and electrical equipment
• Pull wire, terminate circuits, and perform electrical connections according to project specifications
• Diagnose electrical issues and perform repairs efficiently to minimize downtime
• Test electrical systems using meters, testers, and diagnostic equipment to verify proper operation
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and systems
• Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety standards
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, apprentices, and other trades to complete projects on schedule
• Mentor and train apprentice electricians while promoting safe work practices and quality workmanship
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, materials used, inspections, and service reports
• Perform pre-task safety assessments and maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, inspectors, and team members throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
• Active Journeyman Electrician license required
• Minimum of 4 years of commercial, industrial, or residential electrical experience
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, motor controls, and electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams
• Thorough understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety regulations
• Experience installing conduit, panels, transformers, generators, lighting systems, and electrical distribution equipment
• Proficient with electrical testing equipment and hand and power tools
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
• Commercial construction experience
• Industrial electrical experience
• Experience with motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, generators, and backup power systems
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience operating lifts, ladders, and other job site equipment
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work at heights and perform physically demanding tasks safely
