About the Role
Midwest Dairy is seeking an HR Generalist (Benefits & Compensation) to support the day-to-day operations of our Human Resources function while helping create a positive and engaging employee experience across the organization. This role serves as a key resource for employees and leaders and supports multiple areas of HR including benefits administration, compensation support, onboarding, HR systems, employee support, compliance, recruitment coordination, and HR operations.
While this position supports a broad range of HR responsibilities, the primary focus will be benefits administration and compensation support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both employee interaction and operational detail work, while also looking to grow into a broader HR partnership role over time.

Essential Duties
Compensation & Benefits
• Lead the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs including enrollments, changes, terminations, employee support, and vendor coordination.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and assist employees in navigating available resources and programs.
• Coordinate open enrollment activities including employee communications, system setup support, tracking, and follow-up.
• Maintain benefit records, billing reconciliation support, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support payroll coordination and employee data administration related to compensation and benefits processes.
• Assist with benefits reporting, audits, invoice review, and vendor communications as needed.
• Support the administration of leave of absence processes and employee accommodations in partnership with the Director of Human Resources.
People Operations & Employee Support
• Serve as an HR resource for employees and leaders, responding to questions and providing support on HR processes, policies, and programs.
• Support employee onboarding, offboarding, and employment changes to ensure a positive employee experience.
• Assist with employee relations matters by gathering information, maintaining documentation, and partnering with the Director of Human Resources on resolution and follow-up.
• Support People & Culture initiatives and programs through coordination, communication, tracking, and operational support activities.
• Assist with employee development, onboarding, engagement, and organizational initiatives by helping coordinate logistics, maintain resources, and support implementation efforts.
• Provide administrative and operational support related to employee learning programs, HR initiatives, and cross-functional People & Culture efforts as assigned.
• Collaborate across the People & Culture function to help ensure consistency, communication, and alignment in employee programs and initiatives.
Culture, Engagement & Performance
• Support employee engagement initiatives and activities that promote a positive and values-driven workplace culture.
• Help maintain HR resources, guides, and communication materials that support employee understanding and consistency.
• Support recognition and employee engagement programs across the organization.
• Assist with coordination and follow-up activities related to employee development and performance initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Support
• Support recruitment activities including job postings, interview coordination, candidate communication, and onboarding logistics.
• Assist in maintaining hiring processes and recruitment documentation to ensure a positive and consistent candidate experience.
• Coordinate pre-employment activities including background checks, offer documentation, and onboarding preparation.
• Support internship and workforce development initiatives through coordination and administrative support activities.
Compliance, Policy & HR Operations
• Maintain HR records, employee files, and HRIS data to ensure accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies.
• Support the maintenance and administration of HR policies, procedures, and employee documentation.
• Assist with payroll coordination, reporting, audits, and compliance documentation as needed.
• Support HR systems administration, reporting, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement initiatives within BambooHR and related systems to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in human resources, benefits administration, or HR operations.
• Experience administering employee benefits programs strongly preferred.
• HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar) preferred or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across the organization.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
• Experience working within HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
Additional Requirements
• Must live within Midwest Dairy's 10-state region.
• Must be flexible to attend events outside of normal business hours as needed.
• Must be willing to travel up to 10-15%.
