Provide additional attention to assist Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego youth in learning their instruments and performing in bands. You'll get experience teaching and the pleasure of nurturing young musicians. Youth Arts Academy volunteers may help by substitute teaching for private instrumental/voice lessons, assisting Rock Band instructors (copying music, coaching musicians, setting up/tearing down, classroom management, performance and recital support), leading a workshop as a master musician/teaching artist, organizing/inventory of equipment, tuning, and repairing or maintaining music instruments and equipment. Volunteers may also provide event support such as: set up/tear down, serving as an usher, sound/light/media operation, box office, raffle management, stage management, and tabling at recruitment events. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Time Commitment: 1 hour per week for a minimum of three months Onboarding Process: Volunteer application , reference checks, background check, fingerprinting, read and sign waiver, read and sign Code of Conduct, complete three online training modules, and in person orientation. This process typically takes 2 - 3 hours to complete. Required Skills/Experience: Experience with teaching a musical instrument, especially guitar and/or drums. Desired Skills/Experience: Experience teaching. Spanish or Korean speaking. Physical Requirements: No specific physical abilities are required to participate in this volunteer opportunity.
