A Houston‑based organization is seeking a senior Payroll Consultant to step in immediately and support payroll operations during a critical transition period. This role requires deep hands‑on expertise and the ability to operate independently with minimal onboarding. What You’ll Be Doing Process weekly payroll for production employees and bi‑weekly payroll for corporate staff Support payroll for approximately 800 employees across multiple states Act as the UKG subject‑matter expert , including backend processing and reporting Manage California payroll compliance , including final pay, terminations, and state‑specific regulations Resolve payroll tax issues , including multi‑state taxation, garnishments, and agency correspondence Perform payroll clean‑up, reconciliation, and process documentation Assist with year‑end payroll activities as needed Partner closely with HR leadership to stabilize and improve payroll operations What We’re Looking For Strong, hands‑on UKG experience (required – no training available) Solid knowledge of multi‑state payroll and payroll tax regulations Experience handling payroll tax issues, garnishments, and compliance clean‑upAbility to hit the ground running with little to no knowledge transfer Comfortable working in a small, professional office environment Houston‑based office Hybrid flexibility available (schedule flexibility offered based on candidate needs) Business‑casual, professional setting Why This Role?
