Job Description

Green Key Resources is proudly partnering with multiple clients across all NYC boroughs to fill Payroll Specialist and Senior roles on a temp/contract, temp-to-perm and permanent basis. These opportunities are hybrid and/or fully onsite, with clients looking to hire ASAP. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support the accurate and timely processing of payroll in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for end‑to‑end payroll execution for high volume employees and plays a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and excellent service to employees and managers. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience processing payroll, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage complex payroll scenarios including multi‑state requirements. Training will be provided on internal payroll systems. Key Responsibilities Process weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly and/or monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accurate gross-to-net calculations, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefit payments Support high-volume, multi-state payroll processing, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations Review and validate timesheets and time-entry data to ensure accuracy and completeness Ensure payroll payments are properly processed, approved, and cashable Process new hires, terminations, and employee changes in payroll and HR systems Maintain accurate payroll records, including time and attendance data, sick time and holiday balances, starter and leaver documentation Update and audit employee payroll data to ensure ongoing accuracy Assist with payroll reconciliations and preparation of supporting documentation for finance Produce payroll, labor, and ad hoc reports for managers and internal stakeholders Support month-end and year-end payroll activities, audits, and reporting requirements Process union-related payroll components as applicable, including wages and fringe benefits Support payroll requirements for union employees (experience with Local 92 and/or Local 32BJ is a plus, but not required) Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and time reporting Partner with accounting and finance teams to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies Provide clear, professional communication while handling sensitive payroll information Demonstrated experience processing payroll in a high-volume environment Strong understanding of gross-to-net payroll calculations, taxes, and deductions Experience supporting multi-state payroll processing Familiarity with payroll regulations and compliance requirements Experience with payroll systems; Workday experience preferred (training provided) Required Skills & Qualifications Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, lookups, data validation, reconciliation) Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Experience with payroll or ERP systems (ex: ADP WFN, Paycom, Paychex, Oracle, UltiPro, etc...) preferred Exposure to Canadian or international payroll (preferred, not required) Experience in unionized or regulated environments Background in industries such as construction, higher education, or services Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong mathematical and analytical skills Ability to meet deadlines within a weekly payroll cycle Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment Professional interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships Education & Experience 1–2+ years of payroll or payroll administration experience preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
