Overview The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) is hiring a Research Assistant to support the Juvenile Striped Bass Seine Survey, which monitors annual recruitment of juvenile Striped Bass in the Chesapeake Bay's spawning and nursery areas. Responsibilities Deploy a 100-foot beach seine in chest-deep water. Identify and count fish observed during sampling. Record environmental data relevant to the survey. Prepare otolith samples in the laboratory. Qualifications Valid driver’s license. Physical fitness for fieldwork. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
