The Education Liaison & Instruction Librarian provides specialized research assistance, collection management, and instructional services. This role serves as the primary link between the library and the College of Education, ensuring that students and faculty have access to the materials and expertise needed for academic success.
Duties: serve as the primary contact for the College of Education, maintaining communication with faculty and department chairs regarding library resources; develop and manage physical and electronic collections for education-related disciplines, including curriculum materials and specialized databases; monitor research trends in education to align library services with departmental needs; contribute to accreditation reports and new program applications for the College of Education. Research & Faculty Support – provide in-depth, one-on-one research consultations for faculty and students on scholarly communication, copyright, and data management; collaborate with faculty to design research assignments that integrate library resources into the curriculum; provide in-person and virtual reference services; work nights and weekends as needed and perform other assigned duties. Instruction & Information Literacy – deliver course-integrated library instruction for first-year experience and related research-based courses; design and maintain online learning objects, including library guides and video tutorials, tailored to student needs; assess student learning outcomes for instruction sessions to improve andragogical effectiveness; coordinate outreach events, such as orientations and tours, to engage new students and other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution required. Candidates pursuing the degree will be considered. minimum of one year of experience in library instruction or reference in a higher education setting; demonstrated ability to teach information literacy skills and familiarity with current andragogical trends; exceptional oral and written communication skills for engaging with a community of various backgrounds and needs; strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work in a team-based environment. Preferred Qualifications: a second Master’s degree or advanced coursework in Education or a related social science field; experience with instructional design and digital learning objects; familiarity with education-specific resources like ERIC, PsycINFO, or curriculum-related databases/electronic book collections.
