Job Title: High School Counselor. School Type: K-12 Public Charter School. Location: North Carolina. Employment Type: Full-Time 7:30am-.4:00pm M-F, Occasional nights and weekend as needed (11 month position). Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and college/career development of students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and committed to helping all students achieve success in a diverse K-12 charter school environment. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling focused on academic planning, personal development, and postsecondary readiness. Develop and monitor student graduation plans aligned with North Carolina requirements. Assist students with college applications, scholarships, financial aid (FAFSA), and career exploration. Coordinate standardized testing (e.g., ACT, SAT, AP) and interpret results with students and families. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success and well-being. Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. Deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as study skills, mental health, and career readiness. Identify and support at-risk students through intervention plans and referrals. Partner with community organizations and postsecondary institutions. Contribute to a positive school culture aligned with the mission of a K–12 charter school. Qualifications Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field. Valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in School Counseling (or eligibility to obtain). Experience working with high school students preferred. Strong knowledge of college admissions processes and career pathways. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a small school environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a charter or K-12 school setting. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
