Novant Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill adults. As an ICU RN, you will deliver evidence-based nursing care in a fast-paced, technology-rich environment, using your clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to support patients with complex and rapidly changing conditions. You will perform comprehensive assessments, closely monitor vital signs and hemodynamic status, manage ventilators and advanced life-support equipment, administer IV medications and titratable drips, and provide meticulous care to post-surgical and medically fragile patients. In this role, you will collaborate closely with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care focused on safety, clinical excellence, and optimal patient outcomes. You will advocate for patients and families, provide clear communication and education about treatments and care plans, and support families through difficult and emotionally charged situations with empathy and respect. Accurate, timely documentation using electronic health records, adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols, and participation in quality and performance improvement initiatives are essential aspects of the position. Aligned with Novant Health’s mission of improving health and its culture of diversity, safety, and personalized care, the ICU RN will contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment where every team member’s voice is valued. You will be encouraged to engage in ongoing professional development, including education in advanced critical care practices, specialty certification, and participation in unit-based councils or shared governance. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes while working with cutting-edge technology and an experienced, collaborative care team dedicated to innovation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong critical care or acute care experience, excellent clinical assessment and prioritization skills, proficiency with ICU equipment and monitoring systems, and a commitment to compassionate, culturally competent care. Reliability, accountability, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress, rapidly evolving situations are essential. As an ICU RN at Novant Health, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality care to some of the most vulnerable patients in the hospital and advancing the organization’s vision of remarkable healthcare for every person, every time.
