Utility Locator Technician (Private Locates)

$20–$25/hour (based on experience)

Overview

We’re hiring an experienced Utility Locator Technician to perform accurate private locates in the field. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, handle complex locates, and take pride in delivering high-quality, accurate work.

What You’ll Do

• Perform private utility locates (electric, fiber, water, sewer, etc.)
• Use locating equipment to accurately mark underground utilities
• Verify accuracy and troubleshoot complex locating scenarios
• Read and interpret maps, prints, and field data
• Communicate with customers and maintain job site safety

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of utility locating experience
• Strong knowledge of locating equipment and techniques
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Valid driver’s license (MO or IL)
• Detail-oriented and reliable

Preferred: GPR experience, OSHA 10, GIS/CAD knowledge

Work Environment

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Physical role (walking, lifting up to 50 lbs)
• Some on-call/evening work required
• No out-of-town travel

Pre-Employment Requirements

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (MVR check), drug screen, background check, and references required.
